All express trains need to be booked at least one day in advance. You can view timetables and purchase tickets on line at you collect your tickets from automatic red ticket machines at the station using a code that trenitalia will send to you via email after your booking (you must then "validate" your tickets by having them stamped - small yellow boxes on every platform).

Information - there is a large amount of chargeable parking available very near Arezzo Station.

Taxis are readily available at Arezzo train station. We can provide a limited car service for guests to Cortona, Arezzo and Castiglion Fiorentino.  We can also arrange for a car with chauffer/guide on a half daily and daily basis.  Local taxis must come from Castiglion Fiorentino, of course we are happy to negotiate the best charges on your behalf should you require a taxi.

General comments concerning Casa Portagioia

Casa Portagioia lies at the eastern end of the Valle di Chio with the ancient town of Castiglion Fiorentino (population about 10,000) located at the mouth of the valley about 5Km west.  The nearest shop is 1.5Km away in nearby Santa Christina, a 15 minute walk away.

Whilst there is a fairly active local nightlife, for example clubs and bars abound at night in Castiglion Fiorentino and Cortona  where young people flock after 23:00, this area of Tuscany is not really ideal for 'disco-divas' or 'night time people'.  Ours is a Tuscany of relaxation, good food and that peaceful legerdemain that draws you toward remembering special moments of your life.  Tuscany at it's finest, actually - or,  Casa Portagioia!
