Using the A1 Autostrada, take the exit for Monte San Savino.
After paying the toll charges, (You may wish to set your trip meter to zero)
at the main road turn right heading for Castiglion Fiorentino (SP39).
Follow the signs for Castiglion Fiorentino. At the Road junction
(T-Junction), turn Left (4.4km) towards Castiglion Fiorentino. At the
traffic lights, go straight on and follow the road towards Castiglion
Fiorentino.
On entry to Castiglion Fiorentino (after the Co-Op market (7) on your
right), there is a 'T' Junction (14.4km), turn Right towards Cortona. Pass 2
roundabouts, after the second you will eventually see an AGIP gas/petrol
station (1) on your Right) (16.1km), tcontinue to traffic lights and turn
left
heading towards Polvano. Then take the second (main) turning on the right
(3) (17.7km) (by the church) signed Pieve Di Chio / Orzale. After reaching
Pieve Di Chio (22.5km), continue driving straight on (passing a church on
your right) for about a 700 meters you will see 2 large pine trees on the
right of the road (23km), then a small bridge (23.1km) - Just on the bridge
there is a turn to the right, this is the entrance to Casa Portagioia -
Welcome! Follow the drive to the main gates, enter and then turn right in to
the car park.
*** Coming from Direction of Cortona - From Cortona keep to the main
road signs for AREZZO.
Eventually you will come into Castiglion Fiorentino (boundary sign), and
just after you will see a Q8 Gas Station (2) (on the Right) – followed by
Traffic lights – Turn RIGHT HERE and then as above – signs Polvano
*** Coming from the direction of Arezzo – From Arezzo follow signs
for PERUGIA. This will take you along the main road from Arezzo – Cortona.
You will pass through several villages and eventually come to the town of
Castiglion Fiorentino. You will pass through 3 traffic lights and then past
an AGIP petrol/gas station (1) on your Right – At the next set of lights,
TURN LEFT and as per above directions – signs Polvano.
