Menus for
2013/14...

Throughout our main season (April - October) we
twice weekly offer a table d'hote*
5-course evening meal of regional dishes prepared freshly by Marcello
using the finest local ingredients, some of which are likely to have
been grown at Casa Portagioia. Most often we provide this informal
dinner usually Monday and Friday though this may occasionally vary. Should you
wish to join us for dinner on your arrival day (this being a Tuesday or
Saturday) please let us know in advance. Off-season,
we cater for dinner as and when required - but always to the same high
standard. Usually, for smaller numbers, we use our private dining
room where a wood-burning stove will assure your comfort.
We pride ourselves on
catering to a high standard in an informal atmosphere either on our
delightful terrace overlooking our olive grove and gardens or in our
pleasant and relaxing dining room where a wood burning stove may warm
things up on chillier evenings. Dinner is served at 7:30. Dinner is
not (usually) open to the general public.
Our table d'hote* menu varies daily
and will have an emphatic and highly distinctive Tuscan influence.
This is Italian food at its most interesting and innovative, often quite
unlike that found in other regions of Italy, filled with new flavours
and an intriguing juxtaposition of textures and flavours. We
offer our guests the opportunity to join us for dinner at their
breakfast when we outline that evening's menu.
We aim to provide a relaxed and informal
evening for an unhurried dining experience of 5 courses including a selection of local cheeses and
followed by coffee (or tea if requested). The charge of dinner may vary
according to availability of local produce and the nature of the menu.
However, generally we charge in the region of euro41.00 per cover (without wine). We also offer carefully
selected wines, including Casa Portagioia's "Semplecemente Rosso" -
and many top rated wines of Tuscany. We also offer a limited
selection of chilled soft drinks.
As with all the interior
rooms at Casa Portagioia, our dining room is
strictly non-smoking; however, smoking on the dining room terrace is
acceptable but we ask to consider other guests.
We also ask our guests not
to use their mobile phones at breakfast or dinner - except for photos
etc!

We do not provide an a la carte
menu. However, if dinner guests have specific
dislikes
we do attempt to offer a suitable alternative if at all
possible. |
