When booking Bed & Breakfast accommodation you should be aware that each room can be arranged with either a queen size orthopaedic bed (6') or 2 x 3' singles.  During the online booking process you will be asked to select One Bed or Two Beds.  This option denotes double or single arrangements and helps us set up your room as required for your arrival. The maximum is occupancy is 2 persons √

Casa Portagioia will always endeavour to supply the exact accommodation/s requested with your reservation.  However, we do sometimes have to make changes  according to other reservation requirements.  Any such change will ALWAYS be to other equivalent accommodation/s and where possible our guests will be notified of any changes necessary, usually by email, in advance of their arrival.

All accommodations are comprehensively and tastefully decorated in the true Tuscan style and enjoy superb views across the Valle Di Chio, except Grillandi which overlooks our planted courtyard toward the pool. √

All accommodations have independently controlled central heating for your comfort for off-season chillier evenings; both apartments have wood burning stoves too.  Kindling and logs are available upon request (see Accommodations/Apartments)

All Bed & Breakfast accommodations (except Gioia) are provided with a well stocked self-service minibar. A selection of wines, beers, soft drinks, chilled water along with a small range of snack items are available.  Any used items will be replenished daily and charged to your account as per our displayed tariff. √
All accommodations have separate Italian-style luxury bathrooms with large shower cabinet, bidet and large wash stand.  Each is fully tiled with luxurious fittings and lashings of hot softened water, sockets and shaver point.  All linen, robes are provided plus essential quality toiletries from Floris of London √
Apartment kitchens are well-fitted with four-burner gas hob and full size electric fan-assisted oven.  Extractors are fitted.  A large fridge and generous freezer are integrated.  Each kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, electric kettle, coffee maker and toaster included.  There are good sized fitted work surfaces and plenty of above and under unit storage space.  Each kitchen is well supplied with cutlery, crockery, glassware and a range of usual kitchen implements, plenty of saucepans, serving dishes, condiment servers, under sink waste bins and various cloths, tea towels etc.  Each kitchen has an internal dining area with dining table and four chairs.  Each apartment also has an outside dining area with table, chairs and sun shade.  The upper apartment, Funghini, has a private balcony accessible from the kitchen area with spectacular views of the Valle di Chio and a table, four chairs and sun shade for alfresco dining.  Apartment guests may also take advantage of our Provisioning Service which means that basic foodstuffs and drinks will be available upon your arrival (see Guest Services/Provisioning).  A supply of dishwasher tablets, waste bags, cloths, tea towels and toilet rolls are provided for your arrival.  If preferred, you can take some or all of your breakfasts between 08:30 - 10:30 in our dining room for an additional charge of €13.00 per person - after all, you are on holiday! √
Apartments have Queen size 5' orthopaedic bed and luxury easy fold 5' divan/settee in main living area. √
All accommodations have satellite TV and radio with clock.  Each room has a DVD player and guests are free to choose from a selection of current DVDs to loan. √
All accommodations have full window shutters as well as full protection against insects (even when windows are open). √
All accommodations have plenty of power points available (though adapters are required). √
When furnishing our accommodations we have gone out of our way to provide the highest quality beds, all cotton bed linen and anti-allergy pillows for your comfort. √
Tea & Coffee can be served in your room or on one of the terraces of Casa Portagioia.  Apartments have all these facilities available. √
Your hosts will be delighted to recommend local places to dine and make reservations on your behalf if requested (see Guest Services/Dining Out) √
Your full continental breakfast is served in our delightful dining room or on the sunny terrace (overlooking our olive grove) between 08:30 - 10:30 daily.  If you wish to have your breakfast served in your room you may request this only between 09:30 - 10:30 on the selection menu you will find in your room upon arrival (see Guest Services/Breakfast Menu).  Breakfast is not included for apartment guests or outside visitors but is available for €13.00 per guest per day if requested. √
All double rooms are serviced daily unless otherwise requested.  Apartments are serviced upon request aside from all bedding replacements of course and a small service charge is charged.  There is no service charge on your departure. √
Our solar heated swimming pool is available to all our guests between 07:30 - 22:00.  Pool side towels are provided daily.  Comfortable poolside furnishings, sun shades and a cold shower are available poolside.  A tray of tea or coffee, soft drinks, beers or a bottle of wine can be served by the pool upon request.  Our 14m (46') pool is perpetually filtered and the water softened.  The pool is solar heated and the spring to summer temperatures will range from 18-20C  during spring to 25-30C  during the hottest months - June, July, August and early September (see Guest Services/Swimming Pool) √
Light snacks/lunches are available during the day and served on our dining room terrace.  Coffee, tea and chilled drinks are always available.  Service is very informal  (see Guest Services/Luncheon & Menu) √
Car Parking is provided in our private car park located on the right as you enter our main gates. √
You can check your email or use the internet if required.  Each guest automatically has an email address while visiting us (see Guest Services/Internet & Email).  Use of the Internet is charged at €7.00 per half hour and is currently available at ISDN speeds only.  For a bit of fun you are free to send special electronic postcards from Casa Portagioia. √
A delicious regional 'table d'hote' meal is currently served 2 evenings a week for our guests in our delightful dining room or the terrace (if warmer).  The charge is usually in the region of €40.00 per person (excluding wine) depending on the style of menu.  We do not offer an 'a la carte' menu though we can adapt our menu to accommodate certain tastes.  We offer a  selection of excellent Tuscan  wines (either red or white).  Chilled beers and lagers, mineral water and cold soft drinks are also available.  We are delighted if you bring your own wine of choice although there is a small corkage charge..  Dinner is very informal of course and served 8pm for 8.15pm (see Guest Services/Dining In) √
Mobile phones work well around Pieve Di Chio despite the very robust landscape. √
Bicycles can be hired daily for a charge of €0.00 per day. √
Hairdressing can be provided by Marcello, a highly qualified professional stylist (see Home/Your Hosts) who, before starting the Casa Portagioia project, owned a major Central London salon.  Charges will obviously vary for this service depending on what is required (see Guest Services/Additional Services)) √
Serviced laundry and full drying are available for a charge of €16.00.  Ironing facilities can be requested. (see Guest Services/Additional Services) √
Bags of ice may be requested from your hosts at any time. √
Apartment bedrooms are air-conditioned, very comfortable and tastefully furnished with plenty of storage space. √
Apartments can be serviced (for your privacy this service is available only if requested).  If requested, there is an additional charge for a full apartment service of €25.00. √
The sleeping arrangements in both apartments comprise a double bed room with 5' orthopaedic bed and a large and extremely comfortable divan/settee (5') in the main living area.  You should be aware that access to the bathroom in both apartments is only available through the double bedroom. √
Local walks (outside our 3 acre grounds) are simply wonderful and range from the ambling potter - perhaps to the local store for a late morning coffee; or a more strenuous hike - to view the local castle perhaps?  Take your camera, the views are wonderful. √
Nearest filling station is 5.5km at Castiglion Fiorentino. √
Visit Assisi, Siena, Perugia, Cortona, Arezzo and many more beautiful towns - each only a relatively short drive away (see Places to Visit) - and then later return to the tranquil comfort of Casa Portagioia and plan your evening.  Or, of course,  merely soak up the sunshine and relax by our beautifully located swimming pool - you choose! √
Nearest supermarket is 6.5km (EuroSpar) offering a wide range of general and local produce.  The nearest 'local' shop is a 15 minute walk and offers a limited range of good produce (including good charcuterie and cheeses) and an excellent coffee or ice cream on their small terrace. √
Nearest train station is Castiglion Fiorentino (roughly 6km) - frequent trains to Florence (journey about 1 hour) (see Places to Visit/Castiglion Fiorentino) √
Trains to Florence (60 minutes) leave from Castiglion Fiorentino. For Rome, there is a train from Castiglion (2 hours+ journey time) or, from Arezzo (about 20km) - frequent trains  (journey about 75 minutes) are available.  Tickets using Eurostar (fast trains) must be made 1 day in advance.  Your hosts will book these on your behalf upon request (see Visitor Services/Trains, planes...) √
Caution - Casa Portagioia is quite secluded and can prove a little hard to find when first arriving (especially at night).  View the Local Directions (see Help & Availability/Local Directions) and then print a 'Clean Copy' of the driving directions from the main A1 (Florence to Rome motorway).  The telephone numbers are on this printed page should you encounter any problems finding us (see Visitor Services/Driving Directions or Places to Visit/Distances & Maps) √
