Casa Portagioia's Bed and Breakfast in Tuscany provides exceptional high quality accommodation.  Surrounded by olive groves and glorious Tuscan countryside where you can enjoy a leisurely vacation; absorbing the tranquil atmosphere; dining on the distinctive local cuisine; tasting the various wines of the region and meeting the delightful people of this beautiful Italian region. 

The perfect base to explore the Tuscan and Umbrian countryside; the neighbouring town of Cortona or many other delightful and interesting places such as Arezzo, Siena, Florence, Assisi, Montepulciano or Perugia. There is a train station at Castiglion Fiorentino  serving both Florence and Rome.  For example; the 08:38 to Florence arrives at 09:41, giving almost a whole day to explore Florence without facing the heavy traffic. 

Casa Portagioia offers six independent double bedrooms and two apartments.  Each tastefully furnished with its own luxury bathroom, air-conditioning in most rooms, central heating and satellite television. The six en-suite bedrooms can be arranged to provide either double or twin sleeping accommodation - except Gioia with its canopied bed.  The two self-catering mini apartments include a fully fitted kitchen (including dishwasher), wood-burning stoves and, for those chillier evenings, full independent central heating.  The slightly larger apartment has its own large private terrace with spectacular views across the Valle di Chio.  However, all accommodations offer wonderful views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside

The countryside around Pieve Di Chio and Castiglion Fiorentino is some of the most beautiful you will find in Tuscany.  Cypress trees together with olive groves, vines, oaks and evergreens are in abundance.  During the summer the landscape is transformed to include the golden hues of grain and sunflowers. Throughout the spring many fields become a sea of crimson poppies.

In the mornings you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast served either on our delightful sunny terrace overlooking our olive groves or in our comfortable dining room.  During the day a light lunch can be served informally around the pool or terrace.  A private dinner party is catered to our guests on two evenings per week.  Alternatively, there are many excellent restaurants in the area - whether you are looking for simple home cooking or more elegant dining - of course, we can arrange bookings on your behalf.

Our private 14.5m solar heated swimming pool (open 07:00 - 22:00) overlooks superb views across the Valle di Chio while this perfect hillside location provides sunshine throughout the day.  Here you can relax, swim, read a book, take a light lunch or simply soak up the sunshine and the panoramic views across the Valle di Chio.  On balmy summer evenings the pool area and the pool itself are lit for our guests exclusive use - what could be better?  If you aren't sure if this spot is right for you then please read our Visitor's Book or view our Movie Tours.
